Jessica Carret is a Marketing Executive
at
Club Med, and she shares about her exciting job
and what living in Singapore is like.
I’m from France, and my hometown is Moutiers, in the Rhone Alpes region of the state of Savoie, in the southeast of France, where most of the Club Med ski resorts are located.
I work at Club Med as a Marketing Executive for the Singapore market. My job encompasses all the different aspects of marketing from communications to conceptualization of artworks, public relations, customer relationship management and online marketing, all of which I find very enriching and fulfilling.
One of the main objectives of my job is to increase sales and promote Club Med as an ideal destination for couples and families, and also as a great choice for corporate retreats. I love my job because I get the opportunity to visit our beautiful resorts for work! While taking travel agents and media on familiarization trips, I get to soak up the sun and enjoy all the wonderful facilities and services that our resorts have to offer! It’s definitely a refreshing change from the office job.

I’m passionate about Club Med, which has a rich history and tradition that dates back more than 50 years. The Club Med concept is based on togetherness, sharing, and bringing happiness to all our guests at our 80 resorts worldwide. Working at Club Med has allowed me to meet people from all walks of life and helped inspire me with new business ideas.
The best thing about living in Singapore is the quality of life, the “summer-all-year-long” weather and efficient public transport!
The weather in Singapore is great for the outdoors which is something I only get to enjoy during summer back home. Plus the central geographical location of Singapore means that popular travel destinations such as Bangkok and Bali are only a 2-hour plane ride away which makes it easy for people to plan a short weekend getaway! In fact, I’m planning to visit Cambodia very soon!

Singapore is also a very clean and safe country to work and live in and I’ve made some good local friends here. The people are warm, friendly and very helpful so that helped me to settle in very quickly, though I must admit some local men can be quite reserved especially when talking to a Caucasian lady!
I’m currently working in a team of 20 people and being the only French among Singaporeans has certainly helped improve my Singlish! Actually, it has really helped me develop my communication skills and the experience of working with my local colleagues has been wonderful.
My 5-year plan is to grow in my career with Club Med by taking on new challenges and seeing more of the world through working in different countries!
