JobsDB.com Career Expo 2009

Following the success of last year’s JobsDB.com Career Expo in Singapore, this year’s Paperless Career and Education Fair was held at Suntec Halls 602 & 603, from 20 – 22 March.

It was exciting to be organizing a physical event to bring hiring companies, education providers and jobseekers together in one central place for them to achieve their hiring, training and employment needs. I felt that this was particularly meaningful, especially in the current challenging economic climate where so many jobseekers have to put in extra effort to secure a job.

JobsDB wish all our members and Career Expo visitors the very best of job success!

The JobsDB.com Career Expo 2009 also provided work opportunities for more than 80 students from various Polytechnics and Junior Colleges.

All our temp staff did a great job and I’m sure that it was also a good exposure for them to work at the Career Expo.

We had professional trainers from Next Transition to give free career advice talks at the Career Expo.

Mr Wong Kok Wah spoke about “Job Hunting Strategies for Success” on the first day.

While on day 2, Mr Steven Chong shared about how jobseekers could “Overcome the odds in 2009”, and get ahead in their job hunt efforts.

Congrats to our winners of the JobsDB.com Career Expo 2009 “Refer Your Friend” Contest! Some of them came down to the Career Expo to collect their prize of a pair of movie tickets each.

We also gave out 70 copies of “How to survive unemployment”, a self-help book written by Mr Gilbert Goh, founder of www.transitioning.org.

Gilbert set up this support site to help people who face retrenchment, and provide them with career advice and job networking opportunities – it’s really affirming to see fellow Singaporeans come together and help each other in this time of need.
