Stress is something
we feel every day of our lives. Sometimes it makes us feel like everything
we try to do, no matter how hard we try, it just doesn't seem to go
the way we want. With the current economy and unemployment rate, finding
a job, starting a new job or trying to manage everything at work can
be extremely stressful. There are ways to get all this under wrap and
here are a few tips to help you deal with those stressful moments.
Reachable goals
Be realistic and set reachable goals. Never set goals that are difficult
to reach, as they will only set yourself off to become even more stressful
when your deadline is creeping around the corner. Make sure you set
goals for yourself that you know you can reach with your best given
effort. This way, you won't regret doing a half-hearted job and also
be proud that you have managed to delete an item off of your to-do list.
Time management
Good time management is key to managing workload. There is only so much
time in a day that you can work with, but don't panic or worry about
how you are going to get everything done in one day. Instead of looking
at your to-do list and feeling overwhelmed, start keeping a schedule
for yourself for everything that you need to do, for example, if it
takes you 45 minutes a day to read through job listings, then you should
schedule that in your diary as if you have an interview or a meeting
to attend. Once you get into the habit of dividing up your time, you
will find you are in control and you won't feel as overwhelmed and stressed.
Learn to say
"No"
You are the only person who knows what and how much you can handle in
a day. If you know that you can't fit in certain things for the day,
make sure you let the person know. Saying NO is better than to overwhelm
yourself with too much work that you cannot handle. Because the other
person may be able to find someone else to handle the job while you
are already loaded with work. This way you can better manage your own
work and also helps others to manage their own.
Hope these tips help you get more in control and less stressful. Until
next time, remember to update your resume and good luck in finding your
next big break!
