Last week, we looked at the basic traits of personality, during the next 2 weeks; we will look at trait interaction and the behaviours to expect when traits interact. This week, find out what is trait interaction and behaviours emitted by people with high dominance as well as those with the high extroversion trait.
In personality assessment tests, respondents answer with the greatest enthusiasm and fervour to questions that are most similar and inherent to them and they react with the least enthusiasm to questions that are furthest from their own repertoire of behaviours. Thus, allowing these tests to translate the responses into the respondent's most favoured behavioural pattern, which is identified as their high trait, as well as their least favoured pattern, their low trait. An individuals' High Trait accounts for 50-70% of his or her observable behaviour at work. That same person's Low Trait accounts for another 20-30% of his or her observable work behaviours. It is necessary but not sufficient to identify an individual's High Trait and Low Trait. The proper assessment of a candidate for employment - and the proper creation of an accurate, behavioural-based Job Profile target - both begin with an understanding of the interactions among the basic High and Low Traits. A person's High Trait has an important impact on his or her behaviours, but that person's Low Trait significantly influences just how those behaviours are expressed. The following graphs offer demonstrations of High & Low Trait interaction. In addition, you will also see sample Core Competencies and Key Behaviours. These competencies and behaviours have been scientifically correlated to the various High-Low Trait Combinations are introduced.
