PayPal has quickly become a global leader in online payment solutions with more than 164 million accounts worldwide. Available in 190 markets and 17 currencies around the world, PayPal enables global ecommerce by making payments possible across different locations, currencies, and languages.

Located in San Jose, California, PayPal was founded in 1998 and was acquired by eBay in 2002.

We chat to Shannon Bravenec, who is a Recruiting Manager at PayPal.

Shannon, what is your job like at PayPal? I am a Recruiting Manager overseeing APAC (Asia Pacific) and EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa) regions, and my job focus is in these specific areas -

•	Recruit and hire top talent in the international regions
•	Source and develop recruiting strategy in the international regions
•	Develop and manage team of recruiters in the international regions

What are some of PayPal’s achievements?

PayPal has received more than 20 awards for excellence from the Internet industry and the business community at large, most recently the 2007 Online Safety Leadership Award by the Authentication and Online Trust Alliance, the 2006 Webby People's Voice Award for the Best Financial Services Site and the Electronic Payments International Award for Best Non-Card Payment Product 2005.

What are some of your highlights working at PayPal?

In the past eighteen months, I have seen our Singapore office grow significantly and am excited about its potential growth over the next few years.

Because of PayPal’s growth in APAC, I have been given the opportunity to work in many different countries and learn about many different cultures.

As PayPal is growing quickly, I have learned a lot in a very short amount of time. PayPal has given me many career development opportunities.

What challenges do you face in your job?

The war for talent is the main challenge in my job.

It is an exciting time to be in the APAC region because of its exponential growth. However, as a result, top talent is high in demand and PayPal needs to continue to work to be an Employer of Choice.


What are your goals for the future? I would like to increase awareness of PayPal as a leading APAC employer amongst job candidates in the region. We are doing this by increasing our partnerships and programs with local universities, associations and professional networks. I hope to share the enthusiasm and excitement I have for this company with potential candidates across the region.
