We were also thrilled to have them onboard with us for the 5 days, an d they impressed us with their enthusiasm, learning spirit and good work ethic.
For many of them, it was their first time working in an office environment, and it was a good eye opener for them as to how the working world functions.
A Student’s Experience

Each of the students kept a log book to record their daily thoughts and activities during the work attachment.
Esther Mae (left), shares some of her thoughts on her work attachment at JobsDB.com.sg |
“On our first day of work attachment at JobsDB.com.sg, we were briefed on our tasks and given an introduction about the company. It was interesting to learn that the DB in JobsDB stands for Data Base. JobsDB’s website is much better than the newspaper for both advertisers and jobseekers as it is cheaper to advertise jobs and also contains more information, among many other benefits.
Serene, the Marketing Manager of 88DB.com.sg, which is the sister website of JobsDB, talked to us about how an Internet business works and how it makes money from the Internet. 88DB is an online community where its members buy and sell items/services, and also recommend services which are good.
Later on, Ravi, who is a Senior Project Consultant at JobsDB.com.sg, took us on our very own private bus (that was cool!) to the SingTel Data Centre at Somerset. The purpose of the trip was to show us the company’s servers. The servers at the Data Centre store all the data for the Singapore office of JobsDB, 88DB and also Dimension (a special recruitment software for companies that is developed by JobsDB).
Ravi explained to us how the servers work and also talked about what a firewall is and that its purpose is to protect data on the servers from hackers (someone who uses a computer to attack another computer’s data). It was assuring to know that all the confidential data and information on JobsDB was being kept safe from hackers with a firewall.
Throughout the next few days, I really enjoyed my work attachment as we did interesting and relevant stuff such as researching information on the Internet, compiling and classifying customer information in the 88DB database, and also learning how to use Microsoft Excel to create a spreadsheet, which I’m sure, will come in handy later on in my higher studies.
To top it all off, it was fun getting to know my classmates better outside of school, and we all enjoyed going for lunches together at the Jurong East entertainment centre. It was a great experience overall, and I’ve definitely enjoyed my work attachment at JobsDB.com.sg!”
Getting their Certificates of Achievement

On the students’ final day of work attachment, Mr Steven Seek, Managing Director of JobsDB.com.sg, talked to the students and wished them all the best in their studies.
