Dear members,

As 2008 draws to a close, we hope that you’ve had a good year in your studies and careers. Even though the current economic conditions aren’t that rosy, remember to stay positive and keep your spirits up as there will always be a light at the end of the tunnel. We’d like to share with you 3 tips on how to stay ahead in your job search and careers.

Tip 1 - Update Your Online Resume

Keeping your Resume updated with all your school/work achievements, skills, and awards will help you to clearly assess and evaluate your strengths and give you the confidence to handle job interviews and employee appraisals. Furthermore, having an updated and comprehensive Resume definitely gives you the edge when prospective employers are looking to hire new talent.

Tip 2 - Right Time for Learning

Now is a good time to go for courses, programs, seminars and even further studies so that you can be well equipped with the right type of skills and knowledge that companies want in their employees. Here are some useful websites that you can check out –

Tip 3 - Keep Networking

Networking involves catching up with and having casual discussions with friends, relatives, colleagues, and business partners about their work. It also enables you to stay current with the hiring trends and how the Singapore employment situation is like – all of which can lead you to your first job after graduation, or for those who are employed, their next job, if their current one isn’t working out. The truth is, you never know who may just have a great job opportunity to share with you.

The Internet is also very useful for networking, and sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, are useful for extending your reach further. On these sites, you can make yourself known, get useful career-related information, and show interest in getting employed with companies. By the way, we’d like to also warmly invite you to join us on Facebook, Friendster and LinkedIn.

Well, we do hope that the tips have been useful, and if you’d like to share your views on a certain hot topic, or got a burning question, just drop us an email at sg-marketinginfo@jobsdb.com.sg

Wishing all of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2009!

Best regards
